Bulgaria is a varied country which offers both meditteranean style beach resorts on the Black Sea costs and quality skiing in places such as Bansko. The links below describe the country from both a 'type' perspective (beach, mountain etc) and from a geopgraphical town by town description. The property investment hotspots are currently:

Mountain Resorts

The Bulgarian Black Sea coast enjoys a mild and pleasant climate, nice beaches covered with crystal clear sands. Because of its natural beauty, Bulgarian Black Sea coast has become famous international resort area.Bulgaria s Black Sea resorts include: Albena with about 40 hotels, Golden Sands with 61 hotels and one campsite, St. Constantine & Elena Resort with 17 hotels and 41 villas, Sunny Beach with 107 hotels, the comparatively smaller tourist centres and holiday villages Elenite, Dyuni, Riviera, and Roussalka, and the picturesque towns of Pomorie, Neseber and Sozopol. Yacht clubs and marinas offer a wide range of marine sports. The resorts also offer bowling alleys, horse-riding bases, tennis courts, swimming pools, squash courts, and mini-sport complexes for children. Numerous indoor sports facilities include tennis tables, billiards, and fitness centres.


 Albena is a winning resort, located in a picturesque and ecologically clean gulf on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, famous for its flower gardens, close to Varna international airport (30 km). Temperate continental climate, vast sand beach, clean sea without any dangerous animals - your guarantee of wonderful conditions for seaside holidays from May till October.
This is a beautiful place on the Black Sea Coast with good location, high standard accommodation and a variety of amenities. Albena is the place where the sea meets the sand. Sport and recreation facilities, numerous entertainment spots, nightlife in bars and beauty facilities - Albena has it all. The resort is intent on offering its guests the best it can by constantly improving hotel facilities and the standard of service.


Golden sands resort is 17 kilometers away from Varna. It is a magnificent resort with richly wooded hills, white golden beach and clear blue sea. There are a lot of very famous and ancient mineral water springs. The resort is situated in the area, which is a Bulgarian National park. The resort's beach strip is 3,5 km. long and up to 100 m wide. The average air temperature in Summer is 27-30 degree and the water temperature is 25-28 degree. Golden sands suits both sun-worshippers and sightseers being near by Varna the third largest town of Bulgaria, the pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast with a great number of places of interest.


St.St.Constantine and Helena resort is the longest established resort (1948), which has preserved its character as a smaller friendly holiday center. It lies 8 North of Varna. The resort has small sandy beaches and the atmosphere of this charming resort is ideal for a really restful holiday.
It has the beauty of any other large resort.
 

 

Sunny Beach - The resort is situated on 36 km north of Bourgas and about 90 km to the south of Varna and is the largest holiday complex on the Black Sea coast. It numbers over 100 hotels, erected in long and wide lanes, surrounded by green and shady parks. It is naturally set in a small bay, protected by the slopes of the Balkan Mountain to the north. Its six-kilometers-long beaches reach as far as Nessebur to the south. The Mediterranean climate of the resort, a wide semi-circular bay facing east an over 8 km long beach strip, 30-60 m wide, fine golden sand, natural dunes a clean and gently sloping sea no dangerous fish, 1700 hours of sunshine from May trough September and average daily temperature in summer 27C makes it preferable for family tourism. It offers the whole spectre of services as well as plenty of entertainments for the children.


Nessebar - Known as Messembria by its founders, Dorian Greeks, Nessebar was founded in the 6th century BC. Today, the narrow peninsula (an island in antiquity, it was later connected by a causeway) is one of Bulgaria's most delightful tourist spots. Designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sight in 1983, the tiny town attracts nearly a million yearly visitors. Narrow cobblestone streets wind amongst quaint 19th century wooden houses, their tiny courtyards filled with smokini (fig) trees and vine trellises. Although once graced by forty churches, Nessebar's dozen remaining medieval churches are the remnants of both Slav and Greek Orthodox communities that thrived here during the middle ages. As the major historical site on the coast, Nessebar does not lack for hotel, restaurants, discos, etc.


Sozopol - Located 34 km south of Bourgas on a slender rocky peninsula, Sozopol is arguably the most charming place on the Black Sea coast and one of Bulgaria's crown jewels. Founded in 610 b.c. by Ionian Greeks from Miletus and named Apollonia in honor of their most adored god, this was the first coastal Greek colony to be established Today, this charming place is a popular tourist resort best known for its casual ambiance, two sandy beaches, and distinctive nineteenth-century stone and wood houses, some 45 of which are designated national cultural monuments. While Sozopol is a bustling place during July-August, in the off-season it reverts back to a sleepy fishing village and is a favoured haunt of artists, writers and other contemplative types.

 

Mountain Resorts
Bansko - The newest Bulgarian winter resort, recently discovered by the tourists. Bansko provides an interesting combination between the virgin nature of Pirin Mountain and the atmosphere of the ancient Bulgarian small town. It is situated in Southwestern Bulgaria, at the foothills of one of the most beautiful Bulgarian mountains - Pirin, which is a national preserve, included in the WORLD NATURAL HERITAGE list.

The distance from Sofia to Bansko is 160 km. The skiing conditions in Bansko are excellent. The Pirin mountain has a predominately Alpine character with three peaks towering above 2900 m. However the slopes offer runs and tracks for all types of skiers, from novice to the experts, while the ski runs are maintained in excellent condition. The town itself attracts visitors by its 120 cultural monuments, its museums houses, and the permanent ethnographic and Bansko school of icon painting exhibitions. The region is also famous for its cuisine and colourful folklore and offers various entertainment opportunities. Many visitors to Bansko are so taken with the place that they find it hard to leave!
 
Borovetz - the oldest and the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria which has often gathered the skiing elite of the world and seen the rise of many a Bulgarian champion. Situated at 1350m above the sea level on the northern slopes of Rila Mountain among age-old pine woods, Borovetz is located at the foot of peak Mousalla (2925m) - the highest one on the Balkan Peninsula. Borovetz is easily accessible, being at a distance of 73km from Sofia.

Established at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian kings, Borovetz gradually developed into a modern ski resort of high class and luxury hotels and restaurants and the varied leisure-time entertainment opportunities besides an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of the Rila Mountain.

Borovetz is providing excellent opportunities for the whole range of winter sports - from Alpine sports to cross-country skiing, ski jumps and biathlon. The resort twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds, while the biathlon track is one of the best in the world.


Pamporovo - Welcome to the beautiful and hospitable Rhodope Mountains. Since ancient times they have been a source of legends and stories told through the centuries. Pamporovo, the pearl of the Bulgarian mountain resorts, nests in the heart of the Rhodopes, 260 km from the capital Sofia, and 85 km south of the city of Plovdiv. The climate in winter is moderate/mild with a Mediteranean influence. Typical of this region is that nature does not change its moods abruptly, there is no danger of avalanche, and that guarantees the tranquility and safety of your vacation. If you cannot ski, this is not a tragedy, the ski-school in Pamporovo is one of the best in Europe

Sofia City

"Ever Growing, Never Ageing" this motto is written on Sofia's coat of arms.

Sofia is one of the oldest settlements in Europe. For over 7000 years Sofia has been a meeting place of the four directions of the world. Tribes and peoples came and went, civilisations flourished and declined but the city stayed forever.

Today Sofia is a modern and busy capital and a centre of Bulgaria's political, economic and cultural life. The harmony between the past and the present day lends the city its unique charm.

Sofia has the tumult of a capital city and the convenience of a compact centre where all the main sights can be visited on foot.

More than two thousand years old Bourgas is a starting point for visiting the seaside resorts in the area. Port Bourgas is the biggest Bulgarian sea port.

Sliven is the only Bulgarian town which has never changed its Slavonic name.

Yambol - North of it are the ruins of Kabyle, which originated as a Bronze Age settlement in the 2nd millennium BC.

Dobrich - situated almost in the centre of the Dobrudzha plateau, the region boasts of the ancient necropolis, and a big number of monuments.

Shoumen - Here are the first Bulgarian capitals - Pliska and Veliki Preslav , here is Madara - the Bulgarian Troy, with the unique Madara horsemen, listed in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Varna - the Pearl of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Inhabited place even before the Greeks established the colony of Odessos there about 580 B.C.

Gabrovo municipality is located in Northern Bulgaria, in Gabrovo micro region. The municipal centre is situated in the northern mountain-spurs of the middle parts of the Balkan, in the picturesque valley of Yantra river.

The municipality of Lovech occupies 946 sq. m. of land in the north-eastern part of Lovech county. It covers 22.89 % of the territory of the county and it is at the first place for its size compared to the other seven municipalities. There are 35 towns and villages - 34 villages and 1 town. In administrative respect, it is bounded to the north by Pleven and Pordim municipality, to the north-east by Letnik, to the east by Sevlievo, to the west by Troyan municipality, and to the west by Ugarchina municipality.

Pleven - widely known with the five-month battles during the Russian-Turkish war 1877-78 as a result of which Bulgaria was liberated from the 500 years of Ottoman yoke.

Veliko Turnovo - the old Bulgarian capital. Historians date it back to the 4th millennium BC. The picturesque situation and panoramic view of the town, its rich cultural and historical heritage wins the town the recognition as a historical, cultural and tourist center of contemporary Bulgaria.

The Montana municipality occupies an area of 647.6 sq. km, which constitutes 17.8 % of the territory of the District of Montana. It is the municipality with both the largest territory and the most numerous population in the district.

The municipality of Vidin is located in the northwestern part of the Danubian Plain. Its territory coincides with the Vidin Lowland, between the bend of the Danube at Vidin and the hills to the southwest. The city of Vidin, at the bank of the Danube, is the municipal capital. Vidin is located in the lowest terrace of the Vidin Lowland, 35 meters above sea level, with a slight north-northeast grade (0.5% to 4%).

Vratza - The natural park "Vrachanski Balkan", near the city, gives wonderful opportunities for hiking. On its territory is one of the most beautiful Bulgarian caves - "Ledenika".

Pazardjik - founded by Russian Tatar settlers in ХV century, on the left bank of Maritza River, near the marketplace of the region.

The “Eternal City” Rome is much younger. Athens, Carthage and Constantinople came into being later. A contemporary of Troy and having survived Mycenae, Plovdiv is a city upon layers of cities and an epoch upon layers of epochs.

Smolyan - a tourist centre in the west Rhodopes, spread in a scenic valley about 1000 m above sea level, near the famous Bulgarian winter resort of Pamporovo.

The Razgrad municipality is situated along the valley of the Beli Lom River in the direction southeast - northwest, 60 km away from Rousse, 130 km away from Varna, 55 km away from Shoumen and 36 km away from Targovishte.

Razgrad has for many centuries been a natural crossroads, crossed by important road arteries, connecting Central Europe with the Black Sea region and Asia. The first class road Rousse - Varna and a railway line, which are the shortest strategic connection between the Danube and the Black Sea, pass through the municipality's administrative centre.

The biggest attraction of the Razgrad region is The Sveshtari Thracian Tomb dating back to the III c. B.C. - included in UNESCO World Heritage List.

Rousse municipality is situated on the high right bank of the Danube river. The municipal centre - the town of Ruse is located to the north-east of the mouth of Rusenski Lom river. Its territory occupies the western part of the largest Danube lowlands - the Pobrezhie lowland. Its average above sea level is 46 meters.

Rousse, in the past called “the small Paris” for the Neoclassicism and Secession styles of its buildings, is an ancient Bulgarian borough and a port.

The municipality of Silistra is located in the north-eastern part of Bulgaria, on a low Danubian terrace. The municipality borders on neighbouring Romania by land and by the Danube. The town of Silistra is the nearest Bulgarian port to Reni and Izmail - Ukrine ports through which Bulgaria imports coal, timber and other raw materials.

The municipality covers an area of 516 sq. km - 75% of it is agricultural land - 32294,2 ha, forests and forest land cover 3725,5 ha and water area (lakes) - 1506 ha.

The biosphere reserve with world importance "Srebarna" is situated on the territory of Silistra municipality. On an area of 7000 decares temporary stay over 200 species of birds, 90 of which nest and breed here.

The town of Targovishte is a regional and municipal center in the south-east of Bulgaria. It is situated in the fertile and picturesque Danube plain. The territory of Targovishe municipality is 69 159 ha, which represents 0.62% of the territory of the country. It is borders with Shumen municipality, Veliki Preslav municipality, Omurtag municipality, Popovo municipality, Antonovo municipality and Loznitsa municipality.

The city is near to the country border points of Varna (110 km. far) and Russe (100km. far) and that fact makes it a natural strategic crossroad. The link through Kotel to South Bulgaria is very convenient as well.

The municipality of Blagoevgrad is located in the southwestern corner of Bulgaria and covers an area of approximately 628 km2, on which Blagoevgrad itself and 25 adjacent villages are situated. The region of Blagoevgrad includes parts of three of the biggest Bulgarian mountains - Rila, Pirin and the Rhodopes and is well known under the name of Pirin region. The city of Blagoevgrad is the major city in the region and one the most important economic and cultural centers in Southwest Bulgaria. The main international routes connecting Bulgaria with Greece and Bulgaria with the Republic of Macedonia pass through it. Blagoevgrad also allows easy access to the Bulgarian capital of Sofia (approximately 100 kilometers to the north) and to all towns in the region.

The Region of Kyustendil includes 9 municipalities: Kyustendil, Dupnitza, Bobov dol, Sapareva banja, Rila, Kocherinovo, Nevestino, Boboshevo, Trekljano with a total of 182 settlements. The regional administrative center is the town of Kyustendil situated in its Southwestern part: the Kyustendil lowerland. The town also serves as the administrative center of the municipality of Kyustendil (with an area of 923 sq.km., this Municipality represents 30,2% of the total territory of the Region), with a population of 73 346, of whom 51 300 are residents of the town area. Four main transport routes pass through Kyustendil: from the FYROM on the Skopje-Sofia high-way; from the FRY on the Nis-Bosilegrad-Kyustendil high-way; through Dupnitza and Kyustendil passes the oldest commercial road that for centuries has linked Constantinople and the Adriatic Sea. Kyustendil has managed to preserve is historical, ecological and cultural heritage. It is a contemporary Bulgarian administrative center, whose future is mostly seen in the development of cultural tourism, and modern rehabilitation resort centers by the hot mineral water springs.

Pernik is known as a fortress which was defended by the bollyar Krakra (11th c.). The sights of the town are the historical museum, the Art Gallery, the recovered Krakra fortress and many monuments. The Stoudena dam is also in the vicinity of Pernik.
